     Al Kirkcaldy – the host of BLUE IN THE FACE on Trent Radio in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada – has been broadcasting for the last six years and is a life-long fan of ‘The Devil’s Music’.  His show can be heard on Tuesday nights from 7 PM to 10 PM from May to September and from 8 PM to 10 PM from October to April.
     The station’s call letters are CFFF 92.7 FM (95.3 cable and can be heard at www.trentradio.ca on the web).  Trent Radio is a non-profit, independently owned station that serves Trent University and the surrounding community.  Al sits on the Trent Radio board of directors and heads up the on- are sponsorship committee.
     Al is also a blues writer with a regular column in the local daily paper, The Peterborough Examiner.  His CD reviews have appeared in numerous blues publications and his quotes can often be found on blues label web-sights and in trade advertisements.
     Al is a JUNO award (Canada’s Grammy) jury pool member and is also a member of the Maple Blues award (Canada’s W.C. Handy) nominating panel.
     Recently, Al and two partners formed Gopher Broke Blues Productions and have brought numerous blues acts to the Red Dog Tavern and The Junction in Peterborough, including Sugar Ray & The Bluetones, Harmonica Shah, Toni Lynn Washington, Darrell Nulisch and Big Jack Johnson.
     Al loves to do interviews, both on the road and by telephone, and has had a virtual Who’s Who of the blues on his show, including Turner, Little Milton, Byther Smith, George Thorogood, James Cotton and too many others to list here.
     He makes a yearly pilgrimage to Memphis and attends many summer blues festivals throughout North America.  All of his trips are incorporated into his radio shows.
     Al posts his play lists on Yahoo’s blues DJ e-mail list server and reports to Living Blues magazine, as well as the Roots Music Report.
