J.C. Shepard hosts Americana Alt.Tuesdays on brand new (on-air 1 March 2003) community radio station KRFC-FM in Fort Collins, Colorado. He casts a wide line around Americana music, acoustic & alt.country, bluegrass and the Texas blues,roots music you just wont hear on commercial radio. I love finding raw, honest musicians in the game for the fun of it, folks like Kanes River up in Montana, or Halden Wofford & the Hi-Beams here in Denver. Keep the flash, give me fiddle.

A land use planner by trade, J.C. has covered the Great Plains from Route 66 to the Red River of the North and published work on rural development and historic preservation. While living in Bozeman, he got hooked on roots music by Rik James, music director at Montana State University’s community station. I’m not sure which I miss more, fishing the Gallatin Canyon or Saturday mornings on KGLT.

So when the upstart KRFC made a call for volunteers last spring, he put down his fly rod and hasn't been back on the river since, although rumor has it the trout are biting up Poudre Canyon.
