KGLT FM Radio

  KGLT-FM is a freeform no format campus community station, broadcast from Montana State University-Bozeman.  We spin music from all genres.  All programmers are volunteers-each selects all the music for their show.  An apprenticeship class keeps the stable of programmers in good supply.  About half are community volunteers, such as myself.  Others are students. We are heard throughout southwest Montana in Bozeman and the Gallatin valley at 91.9; in Livingston and the Yellowstone River's Paradise Valley at 89.5; and
in Montana's capital city along Last Chance Gulch in Helena at 98.1.   ----  We are a proud, free, and rare bird in radio!   Currently we estimate that roots music is played 30 plus hours weekly at KGLT.

  Rik James has been hosting a show on KGLT since 1987.  He currently hosts "Americana Backroads" and "Bluegrass Traditions," each alternating on Saturday time slots. Both shows feature roots music--  new & classic, mostly acoustic, but not excluding anything if it "fits" that day's show.  It may be blues, country, bluegrass, folk, world, new age, whatever.  It's a radio show that usually entertains, informs, and sometimes surprises (even the host!).  Rik also compiles weekly and monthly reports, both from his own show and from all of the KGLT stable of dj's.  Currently reporting weekly to: Americana Roots Music, Progressive Country, and Roots Music Chart.  And reporting monthly to the Freeform American Roots, Bluegrass Unlimited, and Bluegrass Now magazine charts.
