ROBIN ROGERS CD #1 ON BLUES CHART!

Back In The Fire, the new release from singer Robin Rogers, is #1 on thehttp://mailman.305spin.com/users/blindpigrecords/images/BP-5138web.jpg current (October 29) Blues Chart of the Roots Music Report. The chart position, compiled from radio station airplay reports, means it was the most played record at blues radio last week.

The success is bittersweet, however. In mid-August, after returning home from a festival in Norway, Rogers was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer. Because she's not a candidate for a transplant, she was sent home from the hospital, where she is now under hospice care. Since the announcement of her devastating illness, concerned fans and friends have organized benefit concerts as far away as Colorado, Washington, New York, Michigan and New Jersey. The largest fundraiser so far took place on October 24th in Rogers' hometown of Charlotte, NC. The overwhelming turnout by the local community was not surprising given that for the past twenty years Rogers has worked tirelessly on behalf of numerous charitable organizations and individuals in need.

The album was released on September 14 and debuted at #3 on the Billboard Blues Chart, where chart positions are determined by sales. Calling it "an excellent album," the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette went on to say, "Rogers has a voice that will break your heart with the blues, even if you don't think you have one. She's a soulful, bluesy, torchy singer who works a lyric with painful feelings of sorrow and joy. And she plays a moaning, mournful harp. It's wonderful."
The Philadelphia Inquirer added, "Rogers proves herself a wonderfully nuanced singer and composer, with entertaining changes and an equally full-bodied band led by her hubby/collaborator Tony."
