COMING TO AUSTIN!
In a rare Texas appearance, John Németh, winner of the 2010 "Most Outstanding Blues Singer" Living Blues Award, will bring his dynamic show to Austin as follows:
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 27th
213 W 5TH ST.
9:00 PM TICKETS $10
There may not be a live blues and R&B act on the current scene generating more buzz than John Németh. In the words of noted critic Lee Hildebrand (San Francisco Chronicle, Living Blues), "Németh is with little doubt the most accomplished male vocalist of his generation traveling the blues highway today."
His live show is becoming the stuff of legend among both fans and industry insiders. Blues icon Elvin Bishop said, "He's my idea of an up-and-coming blues singer. I don't see a lot of them out there, but I know one when I see him." Speaking of John's stage show and his new CD, Name The Day!, Elmore magazine said, "Németh is attracting critical and popular attention for his live shows. Catch his tour and see an artist whose career trajectory now seems almost limitless. In the meantime, if you love soul, this recording is an absolute must have."
On his latest release, the dynamic soul sensation continues to reinvigorate the sound of vintage American R&B with his uncanny ability to skillfully blend retro and modern blues and soul into compelling music that's simultaneously old and new. The funky, soulful sounds, with echoes of the toughness of James Brown and the tenderness of Solomon Burke, would not feel out of place in golden-days Memphis or Muscle Shoals.
The CD is nominated for a 2011 Blues Music Award for "Contemporary Blues Album of the Year" while John received a nomination for "Contemporary Blues Male Artist of the Year."
As a companion to the album, Blind Pig has released a limited-edition 45 RPM single ("Name The Day" b/w "Why Not Me") featuring jukebox mixes of two outstanding tunes from the CD release.
