Review
The long-awaited studio album from Texas prog-rockers Proud Peasant, Communion provides a link from the band's 2021 album Peasantsongs to the future. Whereas Peasantsongs was a collection of rare singles and sonic curios, the late 2023 release of Communion pushes the band into its collective destiny. Led by bandleader and composer Xander Rapstein, Proud Peasant still sports a great lineup of musicians.
With Xander handling all kinds of electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, the album also features key contributions by a range of musicians including David Houghton (guitars), Millicent Hughes (keyboards), Mark Poitras (keyboards) and Clif Warren (bass). Also contributing are a number of other fine players that help fill out the band’s tracks. All the players contributing to Communion are listed in the CD liner notes, while further liner notes by Xander Rapstein provides

Jumping out in front on Anthony Geraci’s latest offering are a trio of evocative instrumental ballads. The blues pianist extraordinaire’s elegant touch ignites the feel of “Blues for Willie J.” and the fetchingly haunting “Memphis Mist”. The theme of “Lonely Country Road Blues” conjures a Floyd Cramer feel ideally suited for the set closer. Straight-ahead blues is not overlooked, with tracks including Sugar Ray Norcia vocal features “Broken Mirror, Broken Mirror” and “Judge Oh Judge”.
Jon Durant Album: Momentarily Label: Alchemy Genre(s): Fusion

Review
One of the most prolific guitarists on the planet today, Jon Durant remains a musical enigma. On one hand, his ambient solo guitar albums are experimental to the max as is his work with Colin Edwin and Ukrainian singer Inna Kovtun, yet his penchant for bringing in subtle melodic structure is never far away.
For his 2024 album Momentarily, Jon again teams with bass player Edwin and percussionist Andi Pupato. Released on the artist’s own Alchemy imprint, the 6-track, 56-minute CD is highly charged ambient instrumental jazz filled with Durant’s trademark fretless guitar. As well, he also excels here on electric guitars, cloud guitar, synth guitar.
Colin Edwin’s upright bass and acoustic bass gives the album an earthy, spatial, New Age feel. Andi Pupato is a long time Durant collaborator and his percussion and drumming is a unique hybrid of hand drums, kick drum and
Danielle Nicole Album: The Love You Bleed Label: Fourty Below Genre(s): Blues Rock

Review
Danielle Nicole Band's new album, "The Love You Bleed" is a sweet, soulful journey through the deepest parts of love, loss, and the fierce determination that keeps our hearts beating. This band knows how to turn heartache into a bluesy celebration!
With the legendary Tony Braunagel behind the boards, it's no surprise that this album sounds top-notch. But it's the band, especially Danielle's heartfelt vocals and basslines, that make these songs stick with you long after they're over. Brandon Miller's got some seriously tasty guitar licks, especially on "A Lover is Forever" - that track alone is worth the price of admission.
Standout tracks like "Make Love," with its powerful message of hope in dark times, and the raw vulnerability of "How Did We Get to Goodbye" really showcase the band's
Alba Careta i Henrio Album: Càntut Udolç Label: Segell Microscopi Genre(s): World

Review
I’m a big supporter of any project that documents, in its own tender and delicate arrangements, folkloric songs of oral tradition. Càntut Udolç is this duo’s third album in this series and emphasizes lullabies mainly from Spain’s Girona region. This collaboration of Alba Careta (vocals, trumpet, whistle, percussion, carillon) with Henrio (vocals, guitars, whistle, carillon) records only a small percentage of the over 100 songs collected by students of Cassà de la Selva from different cultures in that municipality. With their dreamy, meditative presentation, the duo succeeds in recovering songs, passed down orally from generation to generation, to calm and lull children to sleep.
After opening with one of four recitations of original poetry by Enric Casasses, the song “Sant Josep, Feu-Lo Dormir” (Saint Joseph, Make Him Sleep)
