Samantha Martin and her backup duo generate some very serious primal soul voltage track after track, highlighted by raw, urgent lead vocals that invite favorable comparisons to those of Bonnie Tyler.  The content of Ms. Martin’s originals further shows she knows a thing or two about deep soul as well.  The minimal guitar-keys-claps & stomps instrumentation is ideal.  The gospel fire that burns beneath the vocalizing here jumps right out front on “Take Us Swiftly Home”.  Other tracks of note include “Addicted”, “Don’t Shoot” and “My Crown”.
