Personality is a reliable feature in the best of blues.  And Watermelon Slim’s road-tested, keen-minded persona is a one-of-a-kinder of the highest order, expressed in his rough-hewn vocals, plain-spoken sentiments and spilling over into downright idiosyncratic slide guitar and harp play.  Slim’s is a presence that prevails even with the abundance of talented guests- Bob Margolin, John Nemeth and Joe Louis Walker to name but a few. Spirited covers of “Get Out Of My Life Woman” and Gene Barge’s “Me and My Woman” are contrasted with deadly serious originals “Mni Wiconi. The Water Song” and “Charlottesville”.  Hard-core programmers may chance the haunting “Holler”.
