About the Album

This album was recorded simple and true to the genre between Nashville, TN and a lonely ranch cabin in Southern New Mexico with a good room and a couple mics. ‘Roots’ was written during the height of the pandemic after eight years of internationally touring in a folk/rock band was brought to sudden halt. Jhett dug his hands back into the soil of his youth as a gardener in Nashville during the lockdowns. His passion for American roots music and blues was rekindled, as his battle cry against depression, as he played around the sparse blues jams that remained in the city. Although already in the studio comprising the follow-up releases, ‘Roots’ provides a rough, tough, yet tenderhearted glimpse into the blue-collar heart of a timeless American sound.

Special Thanks

Thank you Lord for calling my name and givine me a passionate heart for music. Thank you Callie Sioux for encouraging the pursuit of that passion and putting up with slide guitar, first thing in the morning before coffee.

Thank you to Wilson Harwood for the cover photo. Michelle, for giving my hands work in the gardens when the world said they were nonessential. Thank you to my father-in-law, Walt Evans, for teaching me what it is to play the blues and when it's time to lay it down.
