My Second Rodeo

About the Album
Before he died in November 2025, Todd Snider wrote a note to his friend, the producer Joe Bisirri. “I finished eleven songs in October of twenty twenty five. Save this.” Bisirri followed his pal’s instructions, and the results have been released as My Second Rodeo, the first posthumous LP from the great Nashville stalwart.
The album is an intimate look at Snider’s musical obsessions, from the delicate storytelling DIY folk of the introduction “Freewheelin’ (Every Day at a Time)” to “The Manifesto,” which swaggers along thanks to echoing snare drum rim clicks and a deceptively groovy bassline. Snider’s voice mingles amongst the slow swell of horns, creating an ambiance indebted to the sort of swampy folk-funk he spent his career perfecting.
It wouldn’t be a Todd Snider album without some political statements, though, like on the aforementioned “The Manifesto” where he takes aim at an unrecognizable America: “Well then you’ve seen half this nation/Has given up on making sense.”
Our Favorite Track: The protest funk blues of “One Nation Under Fire.”
