DC Carnes
Cleveland - Ohio - United States

The Delta Blues torch has been passed from Robert Johnson to Robert Lockwood, Jr. to today’s living link DC Carnes. Charles “DC” Carnes established a name for himself in the blues world thanks to his role as an original member of the Robert Lockwood Jr. All-Stars for fifteen years. During that time DC played alongside other greats such as keyboardist Robert “Red Top” Young, Wallace Coleman, Gene Schwartz, Maurice Reedus Sr., Gus Hawkins, and Benny Mostella. Carnes is a real bluesman, taking inspiration from other icons such as Muddy Waters, Mississippi John Hurt, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Robert Johnson, and Lockwood.

On July 15th, 2022, DC Carnes released Delta Crossroads - Vol. II. It is an album that pays homage to some of the greats in blues, particularly “Mr. Robert”. His tribute is meant to feel like a follow-up to the Grammy-winning 2000 album, Delta Crossroads. Carnes covers nine classic blues songs, including one (“i got to find me a woman”) written by Lockwood himself and a stellar rendition of B.B. King’s version of “3 o’clock blues”.

“I just wanted to give a nod to some of the people who influenced me earlier in my career, and the guy who gave me my chance: Mr. Robert.” When entering Cleveland’s Superior Sound Studios to lay down his own renditions of the tracks that inspired him at the beginning of 2022, it came so naturally that the record was finished within a matter of two days.
