Daniel Anderson and Heroic Dose

Daniel Anderson grew up in rural North Carolina absorbing a diverse range of music from blues, to gospel, to country, to hip-hop. Having been bitten by the music bug at a young age, there were always toy guitars, drum sets, and keyboards around, but it wasn't until age 11 that Daniel convinced his mother to buy him his first real electric guitar. A few months later, his father took his own life, leaving music as more than just a means of artistic expression. It became a lifeline, a coping mechanism, and the one thing he could count on to always be there.

In his early teens, Daniel began listening to groups that were responsible for the British blues revival of the 60's, and from there he worked backwards and became immersed the sounds of Delta and Hill Country blues, especially keen on Robert Johnson, Son House, Blind Willie Johnson, R.L. Burnside, and T-Model Ford, the latter of which he was able to share the stage with. In 2003, a chance encounter with Derek Trucks would lead Daniel to make slide guitar a big part of his repertoire, and one that has served him well since.

In 2022, Daniel Anderson and Heroic Dose was birthed, combining those regional blues elements with rock and roll, roots music, hints of psychedelia, and a highly improvisational spirit. Since forming, the band has played mainly from the NC coast to as far west as Nashville and north as Boston, but they hope to increase their road work soon. They have also released two studio singles, "Stuck With Trouble" and "Rich Man (I Wish I Was)", that will be appearing on their debut EP, due out in 2025.
