Grasstime
Nashville - Tennessee - United States

Grasstime was co-founded in 2015 by guitarist and vocalist Robbie Morris, whose deep Appalachian roots and lifelong dedication to bluegrass helped shape the band’s identity from the start. Raised in Southwest, Virginia, Robbie grew up in a large musical family whose ties to the region date back to the early 1700s. His earliest musical experiences came from playing alongside his father, uncle and many friends absorbing the rhythms and melodies of old-time and bluegrass music from the age of eight. Influenced by legends like Doc Watson, Flatt & Scruggs, Jerry Garcia, and Bing Crosby, Robbie developed a style that’s both grounded and exploratory.

After relocating to Nashville more than two decades ago, Robbie immersed himself in the city’s vibrant acoustic scene. With a vision to create a band that honored tradition while embracing fresh energy, he helped launch Grasstime—a group built on tight ensemble playing, heartfelt vocals, and a shared love for bluegrass heritage.

What sets Grasstime apart is not just its sound, but it's synergy. Each member brings a distinct voice and musical background, creating a dynamic interplay that elevates their performances.

Early Grasstime won a bluegrass popularity contest in Nashville with over 100 different acts and won studio time that allowed them to release their self-titled debut album in 2017, recorded at Dark Horse Studios in Franklin, Tennessee. The record featured a mix of traditional standards and original compositions, establishing the band’s signature sound: hard-driving, heartfelt, and harmonically rich.

Their sophomore releases marked a maturation in style and production. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Grammy-winning engineers in Nashville, the EP showcased tighter arrangements, deeper lyrical themes, and a broader sonic palette. Tracks like “The Last of Me” and “Wishing Well” earned praise from bluegrass outlets.
