About the Band
Rob Moorman is originally from Brenham, TX. He got his first guitar for Christmas after seeing a movie about Hank Williams. After a short while, he joined a band with some friends and began playing dance halls all over Washington and Austin counties.
He performed as a single while attending college, holding down regular nights at two Steak & Ale restaurants in Dallas, in addition to appearances at the Rubaiyat and the Circuit.
After graduating, he formed the Silver City Saddle Tramps and moved to Austin in early 1974. There the band met with quick success and toured all over Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. They also performed at Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic in College Station that year.
They toured the southwestern and southeastern United States for several years, appearing with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Jerry Jeff Walker, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Rusty Weir, Steven Fromholz, and others. They also appeared in the movie, “Outlaw Blues,” with Peter Fonda and Susan St James.
He left the road and returned to Brenham in 1982 to pursue a more stable life. After performing at a function for an old friend in 2011, he was bitten by the performing bug again. As a result, he began to play in the Brenham area with his band, Rob Moorman and Company. He has been playing regularly at venues in Washington, Austin, and Fayette Counties ever since.
When asked what kind of music they perform, Rob’s response was “Old songs by dead people and some originals. Mainly just songs I like.” We’re confident the music he likes will be the music you like, too.
