About the Band
Who is J MOSLEY…
Born to an African American father and Latina mother, J Mosley first picked up a guitar
at the tender age of 11. Inspired by greats like Nat “King” Cole, George Benson, Gary
Clark Jr., Wes Montgomery, and Jimi Hendrix. J began the mash up of these sounds
which has always influenced and shaped his personal style/brand. By 17, he was the
guitarist for the Rap/Rock group Proper Grounds, a pioneer of that genre in the 90’s that
influenced bands like Limp Bizkit and ICP; they were first signed to Madonna’s
Maverick Records.
Surprisingly enough, J Mosley stepped away from music temporarily as an adult and
sought to establish a career as a first responder in the fire service by being hired on as an
Emergency Medical Technician, and an officer for the Los Angeles Police
Department where he served for six years. However, it was his passion for music which
was being under serviced that prompted him to resign and pursue his musical talents full
time.
J Mosley’s versatility lends to him participating on projects of all genres Rock, Pop,
R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz and Latin sounds. In 2013 J Mosley was conceived, forming a
band the JME All Stars who started touring and playing jazz festivals in California,
Arizona, London, France, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Mexico. JM
shared billing with Marcus Miller, Jackie Joyner, Stoney B Blues, Kingfish, Fillmore
Slim, Norman Brown, Paul Jackson Jr., and many more legends.
What began as a Contemporary Jazz band quickly garnered the sounds of Blues Soul..
Among his most recent accomplishments he has become a notable performer at the
NAMM 2015/2016/2017 conventions in Los Angeles and Nashville as a solo artist. The
honed skills of this multitalented guitarist, producer and songwriter are displayed on his
Ep release "Under the Sun" 2015, and the LP "North of the Moon" 2016, in
which acclaimed music producer and musical director for Barry Manilow, Ron Walters
Jr. at the helm, nurtured and complimented J Mosley's musical voyage.
J, has recently completed the followup recording with his Contemporary Blues release
"Tumbleweed". This Blues Rock record has influences of Rage Against The Machine, GnR, David Bowie and Muddy Waters. The release is a explosive
blend of Rock, Blues, Country and Soul.
J Mosley is the embodiment of CONTEMPORARY BLUES!
