About the Band
The Gravel-Aires are Mark Branscombe, singer/songwriter guitarist and harmonica player with Michael Mahoney, singer, guitarist/dobro & mandolin player.
The duet plays contemporary Acoustic Roots, North-Americana, Country and Blues music. The duet is currently performing in Vancouver area pubs, clubs and cafes. The Gravel-Aires have released their first album of original music “National Avenue” in spring of 2018. About the Gravel-Aires:
~ Mark Branscombe - Since 1978 a guitarist singer and songwriter with Mud Bay, a Vancouver blues rock band; crossing paths with Albert Collins, Koko Taylor, James Brown, John Hammond Jr. and opening shows for Stevie Ray Vaughn, James Cotton, James Hunter, Long John Baldry as well as Canadian bluesmen Jim Byrnes, Big Dave McClean. Mike draws from a wide spectrum of musical interests, including Appalachian bluegrass, Nashville and outlaw country, Delta blues, rock'n roll, R&B, punk rock and contemporary alternative rock and Americana. Mike is also an abstract painter and an avid reader of history books.
