Back in the 1970’s ambient instrumental guitar music was all the rage, especially in West Germany, case in point being the works of German electric guitarist Michael Rother. A new electric guitar hero, this time from Holland, Markus Spittka is currently making sonic waves with his guitar-centric album, released in 2020, called God Is Love. With his strong Christian belief, there is an air of the sacred on the 10-track, 43-minute CD. Although it's all-instrumental with that 'motorik' beat, you can still  feel the heavenly vibes. Written, arranged and performed by Markus, most of the tracks were inspired by the Bible, and the various chapters are cited as inspiring what tracks. Like Rother did back on his 1970s albums, the album features a steady ‘autobahn’ like beat yet fans of timeless guitar instrumental bands like The Shadows and also some of Mike Oldfield’s instrumental tracks will enjoy this album. Based in The Netherlands, Markus Spittka takes his guitar-based instrumental sounds into some intriguing directions on God Is Love. \
