One couldn’t be faulted for getting the geography wrong.  The period jazz, r&b and soul strains that permeate Davina Sowers’ songs might strongly suggest a New Orleans connection. (Not to mention a tuneful sense not unlike Allen Toussaint’s.)  But this feline-voiced singer/pianist is a practicing Minnesotan.  The sassy trumpet-and-bone section that garnishes Ms. Sowers’ consistently tasty fare can further defend a Crescent City illusion.  In addition to the title track, “Red Shoes” and “Flow” stand out.
