With decidedly fetching vocals and arrangements suggesting markedly eclectic roots, Berkeley-born Susan Anders draws the listener into a succession of tributes to accomplished American women, succeeding in delightful musical as well as informational outcomes.  Celebrations of both the widely known (Amelia Earhart) and lesser known (frontier schoolteacher Lucy Goldthorpe) are encased in smartly crafted songs that, as good songs often do, seem to end too soon.  While taking in the work in its totality is the artist’s likely intention, there are more than a few noteworthy stand-alone moments including “A Little More From Josephine” (that’s Baker) and a nod to Rosie the Riveter- “Girl You Never Knew”.
