Japanese New Age synth keyboard sensation Kitaro released a number of instrumental music albums back in the 1980s and ‘90s and, despite cutting back on his own musical releases, Kitaro’s label Domo continues releasing pretty cool New Age instrumental albums, case in point being the 2020 release of a 14-cut CD collection called Relax. Essentially a compilation featuring a number of New Age artists, Relax features several tracks featuring music by Kitaro along with other titles from a range of musicians. Like the press release states, “If we cannot relax, we cannot re-charge.” Living up to the title of this masterpiece album of instrumental synth-based keyboard music, Relax is a great way to musically calm your mind and relax. Also somewhat Asian influenced in tone and sonic demeanor, the CD sounds wonderful and is superbly packaged yet, the album artwork doesn’t indicate when each track was recorded, so presumably they are from the last 20 years but, taken as a collection, Relax was remastered in 2020. The music on Relax is pure, timeless New Age instrumental music at its finest.
