Well regarded by his peers for his cello work with U.K. rockers Coldplay and his symphony orchestra conducting with Foreigner, the multi-talented Dave Eggar has also released several solo albums of his piano music on the Domo Music Group label. Started by Japanese New Age icon Kitaro, Domo released Dave’s 2021 album, his fifth, entitled Awakening. The album is a totally sublime listening experience that would easily appeal to fans of Kitaro’s music. Ostensibly a CD of piano music, a number of musicians also contribute to Awakening including album producer and Dave’s co-writer Chuck Palmer.

Recorded in Gainesville Florida, the 14-track, 53-minute all instrumental CD is dedicated to the city of Bristol, listed on the liner notes as being in both Virginia and Tennessee, where Dave sought refuge during the pandemic of 2020. The album is superbly recorded and Dave’s Steinway B piano seems to gracefully float. Truly a sonic haven and a must for neoclassical and New Age fans, Awakening is a masterpiece of solo piano magic.
