The prevalent mood on Ronnie Earl’s band’s current offering is of an “end-of-the-night” set when both the band and the late-night patrons are ready for kickin’ back.  Slow- and mid-tempo instrumentals predominate, providing the guitarist/bandleader with ample room to stretch out and show once again his ear-pleasing tonal balance of brilliance and bite.  Spelled by solid choruses from keyboardist Dave Limina, Mr. Earl delivers masterfully on tracks including “Blues For Duke Robillard”, “Coal Train Blues” and “Soul Searching”.  Vocalist Diane Blue’s sparing presence is put to excellent use by way of well-chosen covers; Ms. B. providing strong reads of Dave Mason’s “Only You Know And I Know”,  Percy Mayfield’s “Please Send Me Someone To Love” and the Jackie Wilson hit “Higher And Higher”.
