Recorded in L.A. in 2022, Dollar Dreams is the 2023 album release by the Peter Smith Trio. Featuring the impeccable acoustic piano skills of New York native Peter Smith, backed up here by Mike Gurrola (bass) and Reggie Quinerly (drums), with top-notch production by Dante Polichetti, Dollar Dreams takes the contemporary jazz-trio genre to new heights.

Sounding inspired by the classic 1960’s piano jazz of masters like Dave Brubeck, Vince Guaraldi and McCoy Tyner, the 10-track, 52 minute Dollar Dreams is a stylish showcase for Smith’s versatile compositional directions as evidenced on a series of originals, as well as spotlighting some choice covers including “Sweet Georgia Brown”, Cole Porter’s “Love For Sale” and James Williams’ “Alter Ego”, all done instrumentally and in a relaxing, acoustic way.

Jazz fans will note the excellent CD packaging and design is capped off by a choice quote from American music icon, the late, great jazz icon Art Blakey, that just about sums up Peter Smith’s approach to upbeat, even-tempered piano sounds, and that reads, “Jazz Washes Away The Dust of Every Day Life”. For listeners just tuning in, Dollar Dreams is a tasteful and tuneful introduction to the Peter Smith Trio.
