Putumayo Discovery is a digital series that highlights exceptional songs by contemporary artists from around the world. The record label plans to release 24 different digital albums each year. The digital album Tropical Party is a collection of 10 upbeat and festive songs by rising musical stars from Brazil, Cameroon, Cuba, Angola, Haiti and more.

Tropical Party’s featured artists include Moa Vive (Brazil), Manou Gallo (Ivory Coast), Badenga Foli, Koko Dembele (Mali / France), Cuba Quartet (Cuba), Vieux Thiers (Cameroon), Zezinho Noy (Angola), RAM (Haiti), Pâmela Amaro (Brazil), Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band (Nigeria / USA), and Telek (Papau New Guinea). If some tracks really pleasurably catch your ear, pick up the artists’ entire albums. For me, a few of the standout tracks included   “Presente de Oxum,” “Aliso,” “Danse,” “Tout Petit,” “Upendo” and “Lus Lo Solwara.”

For fans of World Music, I must recommend Putumayo as one of my favorite and consistently great labels. Also known for its colorful artwork, tasteful curation and devoted global following, Putumayo travels the world in search of exceptional songs for thematic musical journeys that are “guaranteed to make you feel good!” Let’s party!
