The Toronto-based history prof-cum-retro blues artist Sugar Brown continues to cut his own unique path, merging vintage sounds and styles with an individual, particularly literate lyrical bent.  Fans of the Fat Possum label’s Hill Country artists, in particular, should find the doings here most appealing.  Standing out in the singer/guitarist’s backup crew is harmonica player Bharath Rajakumar, featured on “Blue Lights Hooker”.  Other tracks of note include the originals “What A Comrade Left Behind” and “Meet Me In The Country” and the cover of Tom Waits’ “Get Behind The Mule”.
