Victor & Penny are actually Erin McGrane and Jeff Freling. The swinging and original two-some channel a sound of yesteryear that features ukulele, guitar, duo singing, and solid accompanists (in their Loose Change Orchestra) who add sax, clarinet, trombone, bass, piano, organ, mandolin, violin and accordion. The result is a set of music that is spirited, enchanting and expressive. “Electricity” gives us a charged musical experience with flashes of boogie-woogie, Gypsy jazz, Klezmer, Bourbon Street and more plaintive grooves, as well. Their lively offerings create sparks, and their darker ballads are emotive confessions of passion or regret. (Joe Ross, Roots Music Report)
