Classic grooves meet fresh sounding song craft on this set, fronted by the scrappy vocals and solid harp work- particularly on chromatic- of this East Coast bluesman. But as solid as is Mikey Junior’s performance here, it’s the whole ensemble sound and production that seals the deal on a release that sets a high bar for blues with real personality. Kudos to the savvy sidemen here! Standouts include “Mill Tavern”, “The Cheat” and “She’s Good At Being Bad”.
