Assuredly one of the most creative and distinctive voices to emerge from the Roomful Of Blues fraternity, cornetist/vocalist Al Basile also scores points for output, delivering new, solid material on a pretty much yearly basis.  Strung together here with highly personal sounding narration are a dozen tracks displaying Mr. B’s reliable lyrical punch matched with horn-charted blues and soul takes varied in flavor but equally tasty.  The leader’s horn and producer Duke Robillard’s guitar highlight throughout.  Standouts include “Poor Boy’s Day”, “Here Come Your Trouble” and “First One To Go”.
