The confluence of enchanting folk melodies and spacey atmospherics present here may speak to some as an echo from the early psychedelic era- perhaps a fascinating curio released by ESP-Disk or some such esoteric label sometime in the 60’s.  Whatever its inspirational source point, this release from LA-based vocalist/guitarist Mary MacQueen and guitarist Jim McAuley offers the listener consistent charm in return for accepting it on its own terms.  Covers of folk masters Pete Seeger (“To My Old Brown Earth”) and Richard Farina (“Birmingham Sunday’) stand out as does the traditional “Wild Mountain Thyme”.
