Burly-voiced harmonica man Harpdog Brown sides up with a big horn lineup, embracing jump blues and vintage NOLA sounds.  With personality as “big” as his pipes and harp work, he keeps things moving through a quite lively set while dealing out the solo time quite evenly among his backup players.  He serves up the best of his own play stretching out on postwar hitmaker Jessie Mae Robinson’s “Blue Light Boogie”.  Other standouts include Wayne Berezan’s “A New Day Is Dawning” and the leader’s own “Stiff”.
