With a beguiling voice, a sax sound with plenty of bite and heart, and a smartly curated song list, Evelyn Rubio could rightly stake out a space on either blues or smooth jazz turf.  The Houston-based Ms. R’s skills provide a solid one-two punch on the heart-piercing ballad “I Don’t Understand”.  Other tracks of note include “One More Last Time”, “He Did Me Wrong But He Did It Right” and a solid cover of the late ‘60’s r&b outfit Rhinoceros, “When You Say You’re Sorry”.  Good, good stuff.
