Tis the season to be jolly! What better way to do that than spin Christmas in 3D for a jazzy holiday season. Friends since 2014, Jackie Warren (piano), Sherrie Maricle (drums), and Amy Shook (bass, fiddle) are the 3D Jazz Trio and share a common vision to present “fiercely swinging” instrumental music. They do it with proficiency, energy and emotion. They clearly have a playful side too. The trio’s signature sound emphasizes excellent dynamics, rhythmic control, and plenty of opportunities for each musician to shine.

An engaging album, Christmas in 3D has toe-tapping interpretations of favorites like “Silent Night” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Their fashionable stamp on these classics would make Jolly Ol' St. Nick proud. "Yule" surely get a kick from the 3D’s swinging, jazzy renditions of favorites like "Greensleeves" and "Up On The Housetop." The salsa groove they lay down for “O Christmas Tree” is muy caliente (very hot). “Please, Daddy (Don’t Get Drunk This Christmas)” begins with some bluegrass hoedown licks from Shook’s fiddle before the song segues into a bluesy shuffle. Thanks for this heart-warming gift for a jazzy little Christmas in 3D. The album continues on The Roots Music Report's Top 50 Holiday Album Chart in December 2023. (Joe Ross, Roots Music Report)
