Tin Toy Cars is a band reaching out from Nevada and reminding us that we don’t have to follow convention to make good music. When I picked up this album and read the words “Mandolin” and “Banjo”, I thought I had a reasonable idea about what I was in for while listening.

I couldn’t have been further off base with my assumptions. It’s certainly evident that Peter Fand knows his instrument and pairs it well with his vocals. This album is closer to what I would expect from a film or stage performance soundtrack. Over all a fun and energetic album to listen to. A great first release. I can’t wait to see what else they come up with.

Standouts include “Do Everything You Can Before You’re Dead“, ‘To Fall” and “Down On the Bowery”.
